Masters Leadership Program

MLP Primary Goal

To provide an opportunity for veteran MAFAA members to expand their professional scope, to stay "fresh", and continue to give back to the profession by virtue of their expertise.

Target Audience

MAFAA members (both regular and associate) who have significant experience in the financial aid profession.

ANYONE interested in the Master's Leadership Program may do so on a casual basis OR may receive a MLP Credential for achieving a superior level of involvement.  MAFAA members will track their own activities with a self-monitored transcript. (click to view, then print transcript)

MLP Activity Menu

  • Attendance at "MLP" designated conference, event or session
  • Service project for the financial aid profession in Minnesota
    • Mentoring a new member
    • Serving as an office, chairperson, or appointed position
    • Testifying at a public hearing
    • Becoming a trainer
    • Writing articles for a financial aid publication (MAFAA MAtters, Student Aid Transcript, etc.)
    • Presenting at a conference or workshop
    • Participating in early awareness activities
    • Speaking on financial aid issues
    • Other self-designed project
  • Individualized Project

MAFAA Mission Statement

"MAFAA's mission is to provide training, research, information, expertise and advocacy in support of the timely, accurate, and ethical delivery of financial aid funds to Minnesota students.

In pursuit of this mission, MAFAA's focus is collegial in approach, inclusive in practice, intentional in action and student-focused in intent; dealing with divisive issues before they are used to divide us and seeking solutions that are inclusive of all providers of higher education in Minnesota."

Complete the online application by June 1, 2009. Applicants will be notified by June 10, 2009.
